Community Code of Conduct
The standards of behaviour expected of members, visitors and committee alike.
Draft for review. This is placeholder wording. It has been structured to reflect UK GDPR principles and good practice, but it must be reviewed and approved by a qualified UK legal or data-protection professional before the association relies on it.
What we expect
- Treat every member of the community with respect and dignity.
- Respect differences of opinion, community, family and generation.
- Keep private community matters private, including anything shared in the members area.
- Speak honestly about history and culture, and be willing to be corrected.
- Follow the decisions and procedures set out in the association's constitution.
What is not acceptable
- Harassment, bullying, intimidation or threats of any kind.
- Discrimination on grounds of race, ethnicity, community of origin, sex, gender, disability, age, religion or sexual orientation.
- Sharing other members' personal information without consent.
- Publishing photographs of others without permission.
- Using the association's platforms for personal commercial gain without approval.
Raising a concern
Concerns can be raised with any committee member or through the contact page, marked for the attention of the committee. Concerns are handled confidentially so far as is possible and consistent with safeguarding duties.
Consequences
PLACEHOLDER: the committee should align this section with the disciplinary provisions of the constitution, including any right of appeal.
