Photo and Media Consent Policy

How we ask permission before publishing photographs and video, and how to ask for an image to be removed.
Draft for review. This is placeholder wording. It has been structured to reflect UK GDPR principles and good practice, but it must be reviewed and approved by a qualified UK legal or data-protection professional before the association relies on it.

Our principle

We do not publish identifiable photographs of community members without appropriate permission. We take particular care with images of children.

Children and young people

No identifiable photograph of anyone under 18 is published without the written consent of a parent or guardian. Names are not published alongside images of children.

How consent is recorded

  • Members can give or withhold photo and media consent when they apply, and can change it at any time.
  • At events, the committee will make clear where photographs are being taken and offer a way to opt out.
  • Administrators record the consent status of every gallery image before it is published.

Asking for an image to be removed

Anyone can ask for a photograph of themselves or of a child in their care to be removed, without giving a reason. Use the removal request link on the gallery page or contact the committee directly. We will remove the image while the request is considered.

Credits

Where a photographer is known, they are credited. Historical photographs are credited to their source where that is known, and labelled as uncertain where it is not.
